The Hands Project came about accidentally much like many of the projects I end up embracing. Instinctively, I’m attracted to something and pursue it. At first, the object of my attention is merely a suggestion, and then the common thread reveals itself.
If you observe hands carefully, they can tell you a great deal about a person. Have those hands encountered years of difficult work? Have they been meticulously taken cared of? Are they the main tool of a particular occupation? Have they been nurturing? Every culture values the image of hands and attributes them with great symbolism. And yet, for some reason, they seem to be overlooked by many. In Latin societies it is difficult to tell a story without hand gestures.
The Hands Project is a work in progress that I hope to expand and exhibit in a public place. Would greatly appreciate your feedback. Please let me know how you react to them and which one is your favorite.
